"Retention Pond" Installed By Certified Aquascape Contractors
In June of 2015, Acorn Ponds & Waterfalls travels to Plattsburgh NY along with 20 other Certified Aquascape Contractors to help Garden State Koi build a large ecosystem pond at the Hawkins Hall Suny University. Over 1000 tons of stone was placed in 5 days including a large rock waterfall, skim cove, wetland filter and 300 tons of 'bed stone' gravel to cover the pond bottom. There was a geo-textile fabric sewn into place as added protection both under and on top of the rubber membrane liner. 37,000 square feet of reinforced 36 mil poly liner and close to 80,000 Sq. Ft. of underliner as well as over 150 large aqua-blocs went into this project.
Farm Ponds Filtration System Installation In Chicago
In August of 2014, as part of an annual event for us here at Acorn Ponds, we traveled again to Chicago Ill., to work with other Certified Aquascape Contractors to help with one of the most amazing pond transformations to date. The renovation of a Farm Ponds with the installation of a wetland filtration system, a large skimming cove and jets that are designed to push water from one end of the pond to the other. With all of these components combined the old Farm Pond (Farm Friends) will see a water clarity that it has never seen before.
One of the problems the old pond had was that all the debris blown in from close by trees and plants would settle to the bottom and later decompose creating muck and sludge. Now that debris can be removed and discarded with the installation of a skim cove.

Pond Installations & Training Workshops In Maryland
In October of 2014 Acorn Ponds & Waterfalls of Rochester, Monroe County New York (NY) travels to Maryland to help in the construction of 2 ecosystem pond installations as well as attend workshops for Pond Contractors. Certified Aquascape Contractors came from all over to install an ecosystem pond at the University Of Maryland and attend training workshops. Business owners listened as Steven Shinholser of Premier Ponds, Greg Wittstock of Aquascape Inc. and other professionals talked talked about their techniques for running pond and water garden installation service companies.

Backyard Pond Makeover In Maryland
Old pond to have new filtration system
Acorn Ponds & Waterfalls travel to Maryland in 2014 to help in the makeover and installation of a pond filtration system of a backyard water garden. Why did this pond need a makeover you ask? A picture is worth a thousand words and as you can judge by the green water pond image on the left, a renovation was in order. First off, the pond had no filtration system and the waterfalls were leaking terrible. The pump was located on the ponds bottom which caused the homeowner to have to continually have to clean it when it clogged up from debris falling and sinking.

Instead of pumping the water to a biofalls pond filter, the water was being pumped to the waterfalls and just squirting over the rocks. With the installation of a pond skimmer, debris will be sucked in to a net where they can be easily discarded. The addition of Aquascape’s pond biofalls filter will encourage beneficial bacteria to grow and colonize in the filter media which will reduce the nutrient levels in the pond that algae like. With the new professionally installed waterfalls, water will no longer leak out and save the homeowner water and maintenance. The addition of aquatic plants will help keep the pond clean while helping to make it more natural looking. The homeowner was complaining that he could not see his fish because of the green water. After his pond makeover with new filtration, he will be able to see and enjoy his fish and pond and not have to worry about green water, pond leaks or his pump clogging up again.
