Backyard Tub Pond Gets Renovated To An Amazing Ecosystem Fish Pond In Penfield New York (NY) By Acorn Ponds & Waterfalls
The plan was to add a little bit of paradise for this home in Penfield, Monroe County NY and remodel or renovate the area where once was an old tub pond or pre-formed pond. After viewing a backyard pond that we had recently installed for a friend of the family, these Penfield NY residents decided it was time to replace their old water garden with a new ecosystem pond that would be easier for them to maintain.
The previous preformed pond was a little too much work to take care of because the pump was located on the bottom of the pond requiring frequent cleaning in order for it to work. Debris would fall into the pond, sink down to the bottom and end up clogging the pump. With their new ecosystem pond installation, the pump would be located in a skimmer(similar to pools) and would flow to the opposite end of the pond into a biofalls filtration system. From there it would flow down a stream and cascade back down to their new pond. With a pond skimmer installed, the pump would be protected by a skimmer net and the homeowners will now spend more time to enjoying their pond than maintaining it.
